Botox, Dysport & Xeomin
We have 3 different Neurotoxins:
- Botox is a brand name for a type of botulinum toxin type A injection. It is one of the most well-known and widely used cosmetic treatments for reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.
Botox works by temporarily paralyzing the muscles into which it is injected. By blocking nerve signals to those muscles, Botox prevents them from contracting, softening and smoothing the overlying skin. This is particularly effective for dynamic wrinkles caused by repetitive muscle movements, such as frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines), forehead lines, and crow’s feet.
In addition to its cosmetic uses, Botox is also used medically to treat various conditions involving muscle spasms, excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), chronic migraines, and certain neurological disorders. The effects usually last for several months before gradually wearing off.

2. Dysport is a brand name for a type of botulinum toxin type A injection. It is used medically to treat certain muscular conditions and cosmetically to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, particularly frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines).
Similar to Botox, Dysport works by temporarily paralyzing muscles, which can reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. It is injected directly into the muscles causing the wrinkles, temporarily relaxing them and smoothing out the skin’s surface.

3. Xeomin is another brand name for a type of botulinum toxin type A injection, similar to Botox and Dysport. Like Botox and Dysport, Xeomin is used for both medical and cosmetic purposes.
In cosmetic applications, Xeomin is primarily used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, particularly in the forehead, between the eyebrows (glabellar lines), and around the eyes (crow’s feet). It works by temporarily paralyzing the muscles responsible for causing these wrinkles, resulting in smoother, younger-looking skin.
Medically, Xeomin is used to treat conditions such as muscle spasms, cervical dystonia (a condition causing neck muscle spasms and pain), excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), and certain neurological disorders.
One difference between Xeomin and other botulinum toxin type A injections like Botox, and Dysport is that Xeomin contains only the active ingredient botulinum toxin type A without any additional proteins. This can make it advantageous for individuals who have developed resistance or allergic reactions to other botulinum toxin formulations.

But maybe you have really DEEP lines that just don’t want to go away?!
Let’s add a PDO (Polydioxanone) Thread or two, to that deep line and then put some TOX on top to really smooth out that forehead while creating collagen where that deep wrinkle is. PDO threads are absorbable surgical threads that can be used virtually anywhere on the face or body. The threads are thinner than hair and made of protein. The threads are inserted in the subdermal plane to elicit a mild injury that the body responds to be adding structural proteins (fibrin, elastin, and collagen) resulting in a smoother, plumper appearance. These are especially great for acne scarring, deep 11’s, and lip lines.
